Aggressive Approach to Litigation
The first principle upon which Benedetto Torgenson was founded is the principle expressed by one of the greatest attorneys in American history, Clarence Darrow: “The only real lawyers are trial lawyers, and trial lawyers try cases to juries.” At a time when over 98% of cases filed in Maricopa County are resolved by plea agreement or settlement, we swim against the stream. We have faith in the American jury system, and we are not afraid to present the merits of our cases to a jury. We firmly believe that the only way to obtain the most favorable results for our clients is for our opponents to understand that we will press our clients’ causes to the very end – including to a jury trial, if necessary. Our opponents know that we only take cases that have strong issues for trial and we only represent clients who are willing to take their cases to the mat to obtain a fair and just result.
Client Involvement
Because our philosophy centers so heavily on a willingness to push our cases to trial, we believe that it is necessary to keep our clients involved in the matter every step of the way. In an era where the most common complaint about lawyers is that they do not keep their clients updated, Benedetto Torgenson prides itself on its client relationships and communication. We believe that our clients are the ultimate experts on their cases, and we rely on their interest, knowledge and passion during every step of the process. Comprehensive Approach
The reason large national law firms are able to charge exorbitant hourly rates is because they train their attorneys to leave no stone unturned: From the time they are first-year associates, big firm associates are trained that the piece of evidence that opens the door to victory in litigation is frequently found in the most unlikely place. Both Steve Benedetto and John Torgenson were trained in this manner. Our attorneys are steadfast in their efforts to find high-leverage aspects of cases, and firmly believe that the best way to do this is very frequently to focus on aspects of a case that most attorneys ignore.

Benedetto Torgenson was founded on an unbending commitment to treating people with respect. While you will be hard-pressed to find a law firm that will press legal arguments more zealously, we never allow our passion for the practice of law to alter the extremely high standard to which we hold ourselves. We firmly believe that treating people fairly is not only the right thing to do, but the best way to obtain a favorable outcome for our clients: constantly maintaining respect for the system and its participants removes much of the unnecessary antagonism that can derail positive resolutions. Our law firm prides itself on its ability to fight for justice and constitutional rights, but it will never compromise its (or your) integrity.
Loyalty
The final pillar upon which Benedetto Torgenson was founded is the commitment to the truth and devotion to our clients’ goals. Black’s Law Dictionary defines loyalty as “faithfulness or allegiance to a person, cause, duty or government.” Our firm realizes that clients have many choices when choosing a law firm and understands that in order to achieve our clients’ goals, we need to take their causes on as our own and zealously pursue their interests.
